Our tutorial for How to Cover Alligator Clips is a combination of work provided by Janelle Southern of Tilly's Bowtique and Maria Elena Van Tassel of Madi B. Maria will show us how to cover the basics, and then Janelle will show us a great tip for adding a no-slip grip to the alligator clip.

Alligator clip single prong
3/8 Grosgrain ribbon (4 ½)
Hot glue

Step-by-Step Instructions

Cut ribbon to 4 ½ inch length, heat seal the ends.

Put a line of hot glue inside the top part of the clip.
Quickly place the ribbon between the prongs and press to adhere.
Put a line of hot glue on the top part of the clip.
Quickly fold the ribbon on the top. And finally, add a dab of glue to the uncovered side of the pinch-clip and use the remaining ribbon to cover.
And now, for the addition of a no-slip grip....
Cut a thick strip off of a makeup sponge. Or, you can cut a piece of rubber shelf liner.
Use a Xyron sticker maker with a permanent adhesive cartridge.
Using a 1.5" sticker maker, you can fit approximately 4 to 5 strip across. You may need to use a pair of tweezers to slowly tease them down through.
After coming out of the sticker maker.
There you go! Adhesive no-slip grips for your alligator clip.
Simply apply, adhesive side down, to one side of the inside of the clip.
